Protecting Private Women’s Spaces

March 18, 2025

House Bill 2062, submitted by Rep. Janis Holt (R-Silsbee), was referred to the State Affairs Committee on March 14, 2025.

HB 2062, the Women’s Privacy Act, prohibits men from entering female private spaces and defines regulations and policies for entering or using certain private spaces, authorizing a civil penalty. The list of “spaces” includes restrooms, locker rooms, changing rooms, shower rooms, family violence shelters, correctional facilities, and sleeping quarters.

PTC supports legislation that recognizes biological and Biblical truth and inherent human dignity and that protects children from predators, groomers, and child sex trafficking. HB 2026 defines biological sex as the physical condition of being male or female, as determined by the sex organs, chromosomes, etc.

Although the bill is referred to as the “Women’s” Privacy Act,” its effects would benefit all citizens who desire private spaces to remain gender-specific and would reinforce societal norms for our state.

In November 2024, the “private space” issue was on the national stage when Sarah McBride, a man posing as a woman, was elected to the U.S. Congress. In response, Congresswoman Nancy Mace introduced a resolution to ban transgender people from using bathrooms other than those of their sex assigned at birth at the U.S. Capitol.
