The day before Good Friday, members of the Texas House attempted to pass a resolution honoring Cecile Richards, President of Planned Parenthood from 2006 to 2018. Over 3 million abortions were performed under her leadership.
Richards is the daughter of former Texas Governor Ann Richards and presided over Planned Parenthood during 2015, when journalist David Daleiden exposed videos of Planned Parenthood employees attempting to sell body parts of aborted babies.
The resolution to honor Richards was placed on a calendar with a prominent conservative activist and pro-life champion, Jill Glover.
Several conservative representatives stood up to oppose the calendar that honored the famed abortion advocate. Rep. Andy Hopper spoke out in disapproval, saying, “If you vote today for this calendar, you are voting to honor a woman who is largely responsible for the extermination of millions of young Americans.” After a lengthy debate, the calendar was sent back to the committee.
