Last week, Protecting Texas Children contacted over 900,000 constituents across various districts in Texas, asking that voters contact their representatives and demand action on some extremely important bills supported by PTC.
Thousands of Texans called and demanded action from their elected lawmakers on PTC’s policy agenda. This grassroots support is crucial if we want to pass legislation that truly protects children from sexual material, gender confusion ideology, and medical practices that cause lifelong suffering.
Our call to action texts specifically addressed HB 1088, which would ensure accountability for medical abusers who perform unnecessary and harmful procedures on minors, and HB 1549, which would require that businesses that insist on selling obscene material be designated as a sexually oriented business.
Additional pressure was put on Angie Chen Button, the Chairwoman of the House Committee on Trade, Workforce, and Economic Development, urging her to schedule a committee hearing on HB 1549, the Retail Decency Act. A coalition of several prominent conservative organizations, precinct chairs, and SREC members added their names to the letter demanding action.
We also reminded voters to oppose HB 4806 and SB 30, which would provide cover for medical abusers and leave detransitioners with no opportunity for justice.
PTC strategically sends these CTAs to the districts of lawmakers, who have the power to advance or kill our targeted legislation, reminding them that the voters are watching, and that they will not tolerate elected officials who promote an ideology that endangers the bodies or souls of Texas children.
